Celebrating the life of
Charlotte Johnson Hylbert
June 13, 1922 - November 21, 2012
SAVANNAH- Charlotte Mary Johnson Hylbert died peacefully Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at her home in The Landings with her family by her side. Charlotte was born in Evanston, IL on June 13, 1922, to Gladys and Ray Johnson. She attended Evanston High School and went on to Denison University where she majored in English and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. While in college, she met her husband, Paul "Lucky" William Hylbert, whom she later married on August 18, 1942.
Paul and Char had 4 children: Paul William Hylbert, Jr. in 1944, Christine Hylbert Dietze in 1947, Anthony Hale Hylbert in 1950, and Robin Dean Hylbert in 1954. They have 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. From early childhood she had a love for music; she was lead singer in several bands in her younger years, directed the Women's Glee Club at Denison, was a skilled pianist, and a member of the church choir at her pre-retirement home in Chicago. She loved her church, The Isle of Hope Methodist Church, and the Lord whom she served. Her ninety years of life were filled with love, laughter, joy and spunk.
Services will be held at the Isle of Hope Methodist Church on Saturday, December 1st at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Isle of Hope Methodist Church, 412 Parkersburg Rd., Savannah, GA 31406
Our heartfelt condolences to the family of Charlotte Hylbert. We were next door neighbors of Paul and Char on Woodhill Drive in Northbrook IL from 1980-1987. How we loved her. Sadly we lost contact after moving back east but never lost our love for her. May she rest in peace. Lee, Bill and Marta Krein.
